Tour da Tech Trails RESULTS

Due to navigational difficulties with the bike course, the 5K mountain bike race was deferred to a time-trial effort of the Pine Loop. Results will be posted shortly.

Results for the 5K trail race can be found here: Tour da Tech Trails 5K Run

Fast times, loads of competition, and beautiful weather helped make today's events a success!!

Welcome, Freshmen!

As part of O-Week activities, members of the Copper Country Running Club headed over to Maasto Hiito for some adventurous trail running. For most, it was their first time at the Maasto trails, but I certainly hope it wasn't their last. I think everyone had a great time, even though the mud was thick, Dakota almost lost his shoes, and Matt nearly lost a pint of blood.

I'm really excited about the upcoming year for the CCRC. We will soon be planning more adventure runs, which may include:
  • Summiting Mount Baldy in Eagle Harbor, Michigan
  • Color Touring the Cliffs near Phoenix, Michigan
  • Adventure riking (run/hiking) the Porcupine Mountains near Ontonogan, Michigan
Check back here soon for more info on an upcoming organizational meeting where we'll discuss fundraising, trip planning, and more fun running stuff!!

See ya on Wednesday at the SDC!

Spring Fling 5K Race Results!

This year's Spring Fling had some great weather and great competitors! Special thanks to our sponsors:

Downwind Sports
Keweenaw Co-op

University Images

This year's male winner was Andy Cochrane, who ran a speedy time of 19:11! Paul Lyce and Matthew Barkley were the second and third place finishers to cross the line, respectively. Rima Carlson held down the women's division with a 21minute flat 5K, making her the fastest woman of the day. Kristin Moriarty took second place, and Sam Newberry took third, leaving her dog in the dust! Results can be found here!

Men's winner, Cochrane, finishing strong!!
Women's winner, Carlson, pushing it to the finish line!
There's still snow, but its not stopping Eric!
What a great day to run a 5k!

Way to go, Sarah! (If you're curious, the fancy digital timing system and I got along great!)

Spring Fling 5K Race Update #2

Tomorrow's the big day! The weather outlook is looking great, too! Just a few things for racers to keep in mind:

#1 The race will start at the Portage Canal Trailhead next to the Minerals and Materials Building on Michigan Tech's campus. See below for parking details.
#2 If you haven't registered yet, be sure to do so before midnight tonight if you'd like the $5 entry fee.
#3 Pay your entry fee to a member of the CCRC at our Spring Fling table tomorrow, anytime between noon and 2:45pm.
#4 Don't forget to sign a waiver form!

Parking: If you park at the SDC (the south-side lot is always free!), be sure to walk to main campus and take the elevator or stairs from campus-ground side (which is actually the 6th floor) of either the Dow or the M&M all the way to the 1st floor. Exit the building (there's really only one way out!) and you should easily find the race crew anytime after 3:00.

Hope to see ya'll there!

Keep runnin'.
